How to Prepare a Puzzle Book for Print

2026-06-026 min read

A practical checklist for interiors, covers, answer keys, proof copies, and final upload review.

Start With The Interior

Check the trim size, margins, page count, and whether the file should use bleed. Puzzle interiors should keep live content safely away from the outside edge.

Review several pages from the beginning, middle, and end of the book. Confirm puzzle labels, folios, and spacing are consistent.

Review The Cover As A Full Wrap

A cover is not just the front image. Back cover, spine, front cover, and outside bleed have to work as one file.

Check that the title appears clearly, the barcode area is left open when needed, and spine text is only used when the page count supports it.

Keep The Paper Trail

Save metadata notes, license receipts, export IDs, and timestamps with the final files.

Those records help when revising a book, reviewing rights, or answering production questions later.

Build a preview package

Start with a preview. Export only when the files are ready.
